Referred to us through Kuato Studios, MIT and Seung Lab founder Sebastian Seung sought assistance boosting engagement and player numbers for their citizen science game EyeWire.
EyeWire saw strong competition from mainstream puzzle games and other emerging citizen science games, which translated into limited engagement and retention.
HOW WE HELPED
Our proposed strategy comprising a new game fiction and splitting players into several factions and playstyles received enthusiastic buy-in from the team. We also overhauled the First Time User Experience and organized the first ever MIT Seung Lab League of Legends tournament to help the team better understand aspects of online team play.
WHAT HAPPENED NEXT
EyeWire saw total number of players double over a six month period. EyeWire creator Sebastian Seung went on to visit the White House to take part in the announcement of President Obama’s BRAIN initiative.
