Run an Empire sought our expertise in creating a new category in both the running app and strategy game markets.
An initial Kickstarter success, the project saw three major reboots in three years with little traction. During a weeks-long discovery process with the co-founders we identified two major challenges: insufficient studio capacity for the targeted genre and a disconnect between running experience and game systems.
HOW WE HELPED
We proposed a strategy based on replacing the core loop with an achievable, but equally competitive design in the targeted F2P strategy market. Economy simulations allowed us to find and repair integration between running and game activities, setting up an incentive feedback loop between them.

Run An Empire saw an overall App Store review score boost from 2.8 to 4.2 stars ahead of a successful worldwide launch.
